8 Weeks Out
Start researching your moving company and checking available dates alongside your building's schedule. Sort through belongings and set aside anything to donate or sell, then make an inventory of the items going to your new home.
4-6 Weeks Out
Confirm your moving date in writing, request a COI if your building requires one, and start collecting packing supplies. This is also the time to research your new South Florida neighborhood's schools and utility services.
2-3 Weeks Out
Begin packing non-essential rooms first. Notify utility companies of your move date, submit a change of address with USPS, and update your address with your bank and any subscriptions. Reserve your building's elevator or loading dock window if required.
1 Week Out
Pack a separate 'first night' box with essentials — toiletries, chargers, a change of clothes, basic kitchen items. Confirm final details with your movers: arrival time, crew size, and payment method. Empty and defrost the refrigerator if it's moving.
Moving Day
Check every room, closet, and cabinet before the truck leaves. Keep valuables, documents, and medications with you rather than on the truck. Have cash on hand for tipping the crew if you plan to.
